Mr. Cortéz Cornish (aka Mr. Mario) was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. He graduated from P.S. DuPont H.S., when it was yet a high school, and received his B.A. degree (Education and Spanish Language) from Lincoln University. During Mr. Mario’s college years, he participated in Lincoln’s study abroad program, and studied in Seville Spain for a year, and then in Santiago, Dominican Republic for over 3 years. Mr. C. was determined to master the Spanish language, because of learning as a teenager that he was of Puerto Rican ancestry from his biological father’s lineage. His host family from the Dominican Republic have adopted him into their family; he has known them for over 34 years, and still travels to spend time with them.

Mr. C. was a Spanish teacher for about 23 years; the remaining years a school level administrator (assistant principal/principal), and finally retirement. He now brings his knowledge and experience to ASPIRA Academy as a Culture and Climate Specialist, and feels very honored to be a part of the ASPIRA Family.
