Meet the Teacher

Hi! My name is Mrs. Ashley Fritchey. This is my 6th year at Las Americas ASPIRA Academy. Previously I supported 2nd-grade special education and this year I will be supporting special education students in 7th and 8th-grade humanities. I graduated from Rider University in New Jersey with degrees in Special Education, Elementary Education, and Psychology. In my free time, I love spending time outside with my family and cooking. I am looking forward to having a great school year! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at [email protected]

What you can do to support your middle school student at home:
1) Students learn differently from each other, and will be presented with multiple modalities within units. Encourage them to be accepting of all types of learners, and to choose a strategy that works for them.
2) Ask your student to explain their work. Be able to re-teach content helps students synthesize and have a deeper understanding of the content.
3) Remind them that mistakes are inevitable, and that it means they are learning.
4) Check in with your student to ensure they are keeping up with their assignments. All assignments can be found on schoology.
