Meet The Teacher

Hello and Welcome to 8th Grade! You made it! My name is Keaira Faña-Ruiz and I am the English Humanities teacher. I have been a part of the ASPIRA family since Spring 2017.  I am also the Step Team coach and Dance Company Director here at ASPIRA. I have obtained an Associates in Arts, Bachelors in English with a Concentration in Ethnic and Cultural Studies, and a Masters degree in Education. I have two small children, a boy and a girl. In my free time I enjoy reading, dance, and cooking. Currently, I serve as a commissioner on the City of New Castle Planning Commission. My experience in Education includes working as a substitute teacher, TSS worker for children with exceptionalities in Philadelphia, and teaching a poetry class for UD's Upward Bound Program.  I look forward to working with you all this year, let's make this year a great one! In 2021, I received the Latino Impact Award from the University of Delaware.
