Let the team at ASPIRA engage your child this summer!  Our summer program will run from June 13 – August 12, 2022, and is open to all students who have completed Kindergarten through 13 years old!  Our developmentally appropriate enrichment activities will focus on scientific inquiry, arts and crafts, and physical activity.  Summer camp will be back at our East Campus, 326 Ruthar Drive, Newark, DE 19711

WEEKLY CAMP DESCRIPTIONS

Campers will learn about the ecosystems, which naturally occur on the ASPIRA campus. Led by Teacher Naturalists from the Delaware Nature Society, children will engage in hands-on, outdoor learning experiences in the various gardens and ponds located around the school. Campers will learn about the uniquely fresh and saltwater ecosystems at the Wilmington Riverfront when they visit the DuPont Environmental Education Center. Splash day this week will include a water slide and water activities.

Los campistas aprenderán sobre los ecosistemas que ocurren naturalmente en el campus de ASPIRA. Dirigidos por maestros naturalistas del Delaware Nature Society, los niños participarán en experiencias prácticas de aprendizaje al aire libre en los diversos jardines y estanques ubicados alrededor de la escuela. Los campistas aprenderán sobre los ecosistemas únicos de agua dulce y salada en el Wilmington Riverfront cuando visiten el DuPont Environmental Education Center. El día de chapoteo de esta semana incluirá una chorrera de agua y actividades acuáticas.

It's no mystery kids love Drama Kids camps!  Campers this week will write, solve, and act up in great plays – created, directed, and performed entirely by THEM! Cub Scouts is fun for the whole family. In Scouting, children start with their best right now selves and grow into their very best future selves. It is fun, hands-on learning and achievement that puts kids in the middle of the action and prepares them for today – and life. The children will enjoy a field trip this week to the Christiana Skating Center to enjoy a fun day with friends. A water slide at ASPIRA will give our campers a chance to cool off and get wet this week.

¡No es ningún misterio que a los niños les encantan los campamentos de Drama Kids! Los campistas de esta semana escribirán, resolverán y actuarán en grandes obras, ¡creadas, dirigidas e interpretadas completamente por ELLOS! El Cub Scouts es divertido para toda la familia. En Scouting, los niños comienzan con lo mejor de sí mismos en este momento y crecen hasta convertirse en lo mejor de sí mismos en el futuro. Es un aprendizaje y logro divertido y práctico que pone a los niños en medio de la acción y los prepara para el día de hoy y la vida. Los niños disfrutarán esta semana de una gira al Christiana Skating Center para disfrutar de un día divertido con amigos. Una chorrera de agua en ASPIRA les dará a nuestros campistas la oportunidad de refrescarse y mojarse esta semana.

Campers will learn about the Monarch butterfly and other insects, which make their home on the ASPIRA campus. Led by Teacher Naturalists from the Delaware Nature Society, children will engage in hands-on, outdoor learning experiences in the various gardens and stormwater retention pond located around the school. Campers will learn about Monarchs, insects, and other creepy crawlers at a visit to Ashland Nature Center. A water slide at ASPIRA will give our campers a chance to cool off and get wet this week.

Los campistas aprenderán sobre la Mariposa Monarca y otros insectos, que tienen su hogar en el campus de ASPIRA. Dirigidos por maestros naturalistas del Delaware Nature Society, los niños participarán en experiencias prácticas de aprendizaje al aire libre en los diversos jardines y estanques de retención de aguas pluviales ubicados alrededor de la escuela. Los campistas aprenderán sobre Monarcas, insectos y otros insectos espeluznantes en una visita al Ashland Nature Center. Una chorrera de agua en ASPIRA les dará a nuestros campistas la oportunidad de refrescarse y mojarse esta semana.

Week 4: JUL 4-8

No Camp - No Habrá Campamento

Join 4-H with hands-on learning about the environment this week. 4-H will lead campers in activities that will allow them to grow and appreciate their understanding of our environment. This week, our campers will have the opportunity to visit the Mt. Cuba Astronomical Observatory and learn about our solar system. Splash day this week will involve a water slide and water activities.

Únase a 4-H con aprendizaje práctico sobre el medio ambiente esta semana. 4-H guiará a los campistas en actividades que les permitirán crecer y apreciar su comprensión de nuestro medio ambiente. Esta semana, nuestros campistas tendrán la oportunidad de visitar el Mt. Cuba Astronomical Observatory y aprender sobre nuestro sistema solar. El día de chapoteo de esta semana incluirá una chorrera de agua y actividades acuáticas.

This week our campers will be joined by instructors from Delaware Contemporary Art. Together, they will be creating group art projects while learning new skills and working as a group. This week’s field trip will be to White Clay Creek State Park to spend the day learning about turtles and frogs. Campers have a chance to cool off this week and enjoy a waterslide and water activities on splash day.

Esta semana, nuestros campistas se unirán a instructores de Delaware Contemporary Art. Juntos, crearán proyectos de arte grupales mientras aprenden nuevas habilidades y trabajan en grupo. La excursión de esta semana será al White Clay Creek State Park para pasar el día aprendiendo sobre las tortugas y las ranas. Los campistas tienen la oportunidad de refrescarse esta semana y disfrutar de una chorrera de agua y actividades acuáticas el día de chapoteo.

This week will involve some friendly competition between our campers and counselors. Counselors will break into teams and compete in a week of color wars. Competitions will involve scavenger hunts, racing, sports, puzzles, and more! This week’s field trip will be to Alapocas Run State Park. A water slide at ASPIRA will give our campers a chance to cool off and get wet this week.

Esta semana habrá una competencia amistosa entre nuestros campistas y consejeros. Los consejeros se dividirán en equipos y competirán en una semana de guerras de color. ¡Las competencias incluirán búsquedas del tesoro, carreras, deportes, rompecabezas y más! La excursión de esta semana será en el Alapocas Run State Park. Un tobogán de agua en ASPIRA les dará a nuestros campistas la oportunidad de refrescarse y mojarse esta semana.

Join us this week to participate in instruction from Soccer Shots and Victor Vega. We will be hosting a soccer-themed week that will allow our campers to develop skills and learn to play as a team. Campers will be visiting the Patriot Ice Center this week to have a fun day of ice-skating. A water slide at ASPIRA will give our campers a chance to cool off and get wet this week.

Únase a nosotros esta semana para participar en la instrucción de Soccer Shots y Victor Vega. Estaremos organizando una semana temática de fútbol, un campamento que permitirá a nuestros campistas desarrollar habilidades y aprender a jugar en equipo. Los campistas visitarán el Patriot Ice Center esta semana para pasar un divertido día de patinaje sobre hielo. Una chorrera de agua en ASPIRA les dará a nuestros campistas la oportunidad de refrescarse y mojarse esta semana.

Campers this week will be able to participate in different sporting activities this week. Victor Vega, ASPIRA’s soccer and basketball coach, will be working with campers in exploring their different strengths and learning to play a variety of sports. Campers will be visiting Lums Pond State Park this week to participate in a net dipping activity. Splash day this week will include a water slide and water activities.

Los campistas de esta semana podrán participar en diferentes actividades deportivas. Victor Vega, entrenador de fútbol y baloncesto de ASPIRA, trabajará con los campistas para explorar sus diferentes habilidades y aprender a jugar una variedad de deportes. Los campistas visitarán Lums Pond State Park esta semana para participar en una actividad de inmersión de mayas. El día de chapoteo de esta semana incluirá una chorrera de agua y actividades acuáticas.

2022 Summer Camp is being offered at $160/per week.  We are offering care on a sliding scale, discounts are available for eligible families and for siblings.  Extended Care is available upon request.  Please see the pricing schedule below.

NEW - Counselor-in-training (CIT) Program

Our Counselor-in-training (CIT) Program is designed to offer qualified young people an opportunity to develop leadership skills, sensitivity to children, and recreational skills while preparing for positions as future camp and extended care counselors.

 

The 4-week CIT Program, guided by a designated CIT Coordinator, is a hands-on training experience that will develop their decision-making and problem-solving skills by assisting with daily activities and camper care. Counselors-in training will spend designated time with their CIT Coordinator learning leadership skills.  Examples of those skills include how to build a growth mindset, goal setting, effective communication methods, positive camper management, and appropriate camper activities.

 

Participation in the CIT program is by selection.  Interested applicants need to complete an application form, submit three reference letters (at least two from teachers), and attend an interview.  Applicants must also possess the following:

  • Applicants must be at least 14 years old at the start of their CIT session
  • Applicants must possess a genuine interest in recreational youth development and in working with campers ages 6-13
  • CITs must be willing to commit the required energy, enthusiasm, and positive attitude to all aspects of the training program
  • CITs must be available to attend the full 4 weeks of the program
  • Once selected, payment of $200 (for all four weeks) must be paid to reserve space before deadline on approval email to participate
  • CIT hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 4pm
  • CITs will be provided both breakfast and lunch
