Emergency Broadband Benefit/Beneficio de Emergencia para Internet:
The Federal Communications Commission has launched a temporary program to help families and households struggling to afford Internet service during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Emergency Broadband Benefit provides a discount of up to $50 per month toward broadband service for eligible households. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers. Enroll through a participating broadband provider or directly with the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) using an online or mail in application. Latin American Community Center (LACC): The LACC provides families support services. The 2021-2022 Latin American Community Center Resource Guide lists the services we provide for all ages from our community of the counties of Wilmington and New Castle. The guide is set up so you can find the information you need quickly.
Newark Area Welfare Committee (NAWC), an all-volunteer organization, helps Newark area families in crisis regain balance by providing them the necessities of life. Newark residents (only) can find assistance for food, shelter, heat and the other essentials of life. Helping Our Neighbors in Need. Utility bills: Financial assistance for utility bills for Wilmington families impacted by COVID/ Fondos para ayudar a familias en el área de Wilmington que atraviesan dificultades económicas debido a la pandemia.
The LACC received funds to help families that live in Wilmington, experiencing financial challenges due to the pandemic. If approved, their finance department would send the checks to cover outstanding utility bills directly to the provider; maximum reimbursement is $150. In order to access this program, the parent/guardian must call the LACC directly 302.655.7338 to request financial assistance. Please tell them that ASPIRA referred you to this program.
