Last week, our Culture &Climate assemblies were filled with energy and excitement as Coco Flamenco visited our school! Miss Coco Flamenco led our students on an interactive journey to Spain, 500 years ago—exploring the origins of Flamenco during a time when bullied immigrants were forced to hide in caves, and powerful rhythms of resilience were born.
Students laughed, learned, and connected as they discovered how Flamenco expresses and transforms emotions into strength and joy. Through music, movement, and storytelling, Coco Flamenco brought history and culture to life in a way our students won’t soon forget.

We were thrilled to welcome Cherry Mo, Caldecott Honor–winning author-illustrator of Home in a Lunchbox, to our school today! Cherry shared how her own journey — growing up in Hong Kong, moving to the U.S. at age ten, and finding “home” in new places — inspires her storytelling and artwork.
Cherry captivated our students with her warm storytelling and encouraged them to embrace their imagination, follow their curiosity, and share their own stories with confidence. Her message of finding home — whether through food, community, or self-reflection — truly resonated with our students.

Students attended the annual ADL Leadership Conference, where keynote speaker Pastor Carl inspired everyone by sharing how friendship and allyship go hand in hand. Our students left energized and ready to lead with kindness and purpose.

Our Sociology class took learning beyond the classroom during their visit to the Delaware Art Museum’s exhibition on Race. Students applied concepts from our culture unit to analyze how race and identity are portrayed in America—making meaningful connections to their academic work.
🌍 ASPIRA Leadership Conference (Grades 8–10)
We’re incredibly proud of our Global Leadership Year 3 ASPIRA students who partnered with UD Leadership Seniors to host an engaging Leadership Conference for grades 8–10! Younger Aspirantes explored communication, confidence, and adaptability through fun, interactive sessions—truly building the next generation of leaders.

Last week, the ACHS Counseling Team hosted a College & Career Fair as part of our Launch Into Your Future Initiative—and it was a huge success!
Students visited each table to learn about colleges, career pathways, military options, and trade programs. Along the way, they played an interactive BINGO game for a chance to win raffle prizes. 🔍✅

This week, our East and West campuses joined in celebrating Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) — a cherished Mexican tradition that honors and remembers loved ones who have passed away.
Students and staff created altars, or ofrendas, decorated with flowers, candles, photos, and meaningful mementos. These beautiful displays serve as a way to welcome the spirits of loved ones back for a joyful remembrance filled with love, color, and reflection. 🌼🕯️
