Students, staff, cheerleaders, drum-line members and dignitaries, gathered at ASPIRA Academy on Monday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the six-lane track that surrounds a new turf field at the high school campus on Otts Chapel Road.
Athletic Director Mandy Minutola welcomed the crowd and pointed out that the new structures have already excited students and encouraged more to come out for sports. As she spoke, construction was going on in the distance that will include a new softball and baseball field scheduled to open in time for the spring season.
The school, which includes more than 375 students, offers soccer, girls volleyball and cross country in the fall. All of the speakers, which among others included Head of School Michael Rodriguez, COO Greg Panchisin and CEO Margie Lopez Waite, all boasted about the support of the community to make the new sports complex happen.
